FAQ

Why would I pay so much for a music download?
The music listed on this site isn’t necessarily for playing on your iPod or Zune or whatever. It’s intended to be used as music in commercials, film and video, web projects, or TV. The cost is the licensing fee.
But if you really like something here, you can certainly buy it and load it up in your personal music device to get your next house party rockin’.

What is Royalty-Free?

What is Rights Managed?
Rights Managed, or RM, as our huge staff of smelly lawyers call it, refers to a copyright license which, if purchased by a user, allows the one time use of the track as specified by the license. If the user wants to use the track for other uses an additional license needs to be purchased. RM licences can be given on a non-exclusive or exclusive basis. You should see our lawyers .. they’re ugly! We pay them alot of money to sue each other just to keep their sue-ing skills sharp .. so dont mess with us .. and by us we mean them. You can do that, the not messing with us part, by being cool and using what you download for why you downloaded it the number of times you said you would. Vinny and Vito will be really happy to not deal with you.

I feel weird sending my money to a place called zazuzazu.
First of all, that’s not a frequently asked question, that’s a frequently stated statement. Secondly, you’re not sending us any money. The billing goes directly to each artist’s PayPal account (or whatever other payment system they’ve set up), and we have nothing to do with it.

What’s the catch? How do you make money on this?
This is the internet, baby! NOBODY makes money anymore! Actually, you’d be surprised how quickly that 16 cents a month from Google ads adds up for us.
No, actually actually, the site is run by musicians who want to get their music out there too. But if we only had our stuff listed, that would make for a pretty small, stylistically limited catalog to choose from. By including many artists, there’s greater variety, and a better catalog to search through, meaning it’s much more useful for people who will be searching and buying the music.
We all win! Time for a virtual hug.

This sounds an awful lot like that Socialism thing I’ve been hearing so much about. What are you, a bunch of hippies and commies?
Yes. That sums it up pretty well.

I have a problem with the song/billing/quality/12th note played during the guitar solo. Who do I complain loudly to?
We only provide the means to search and catalog the songs. Any issues with the music are the responsibility of the individual contributors.

I found a piece of music I really like, but it isn’t quite right. Will you change it?
That’s something you’ll have to negotiate with the contributor. Some contributors may also do custom music from scratch for your project. Check their profiles or send them a message.

Dude, my band did an Aerosmith medley at last month’s Battle of the Bands and we recorded it, and my guitar solo was off the hook and Steve Jobs should buy the 33 minute version and totally use it in an Apple commercial.
I sent him an e-mail about it.

Again, statement, not a question. Dream on and dream big, Slash Jr., but that sounds like a copyright problem. All contributors must be the copyright owners of what they list here. That means writing, performing, sampling, looping, glooping and duping.
